Working with the City of Livingston's recycling program and Four Corners Recycling of Belgrade, recyclables must be in certain condition at pickup in order to be collected.
It's paramount that recyclables be free of contaminates such as food particles, liquids (sour milk) and tobacco products (cigarette butts and chew spit) as these contaminates can ruin entire recyclable batches. These loads of materials must then be deposited in our landfill. Therefore contradicting our purpose!!
For the information of the 'Do it yourself' haulers, please do not deposit bags, Styrofoam or dirty recyclables into the bins. These items are not sorted out. If the container has these items deposited in them, the entire container is sent to the landfill. Please pay attention to what is and what is not accepted. Improper recycling jeopardizes the entire recycling program.
Reclaim MT requests each type of recyclable be bagged separately, with the exception of glass. Bagging items separately reduces nature related littering (wind) and increases our efficiency. You may either use a paper bag from the grocery store, plastic bag or a reusable bag (please indicate you would like a bag left if the bag is an accepted recyclable) which will be left in the bin after your recyclables are picked up.
Reclaim MT collects plastic bags, the City of Livingston does not accept these items. Grocery bags, plastic film and packaging must be consolidated into one bag. Wind is a huge issue with these recyclables. No bubble wrap, meat wrappings or dirty plastic film. DO NOT PLACE WITH PLASTIC CONTAINERS!!
Paperboard, such as cereal boxes, pop boxes, asprin boxes, etc. are classified as cardboard. If you have corrugated cardboard, place the paperboard items in between the corrugated cardboard. If you do not have any corrugated cardboard, you must place the paperboard in a separate sack. Paper bags from stores and packing paper are also included in this category. Please bundle these items together in a white plastic garbage bag or with string.
Bins must have lids on them, this prevents the weather from permeating the recyclables (wind and rain).
